Snacks......

A kid comes home from after school, he's hungry hasn't eaten for an hour of two, he takes his hand grabs something sweet since he ate the school lunch (bleeech) sits down, and you run and grab it out of his hand!
What the heck!!! He's frustrated and you tell him Oh No You Don't!!!!! But he just doesn't understand.
It's not bad to eat something sweet, but it's not good either! It's not good if you have it all the time, but once in a while is alright! But instead of you kid chumping down on some chocolate all by it's self, make it healthier but keep the chocolate, just put it inside a recipe...like this one!
Homemade Trail Mix
1/2 chocolate bar chopped up 1 C granola 1/4 C nuts (anykind)
1/4 C dried fruit sliced a sprinkle of brown sugar

if you are allergic to nuts you can just leave them out, or add more fruit

Now that dose have unhealthy stuff in it, but it is covered up with healthier foods to make it not count as much.
Hot summer days-sticky icky (yummy) sugary popsicles-not needed!!!!!

Instead of sending your child to the truck with $3 and hearing "pop goes the weasel" 20 more times do this instead

The Home Free Slushes
1 cup of juice 1 spoon
(make sure the cup is freezable)
Put the spoon in the cup and place it in the freezer for about 3 hrs.

This is a graet one, my brother and I will pay each other for the leftover slushes, but it can take a long time to freeze, so if you have leftover juice from the morning just stick it in the freezer and it will be perfect after school
Bye For Now

School's Junk

So let's talk about the school food, not really the healthiest right? Actually it's not healthy at
ALL except from some fruit here or there, but who knows if something is wrong with that! So the point is it's not very reliable. Anyway don't stress, I eat that food, am I dead? NO, or else I wouldn't be writing. (I at least I hope I wouldn't be) Now the food might give me stomach problems, make me want to puke, but as I said before NOT DEAD!!
Now if your really stressed, pack them a lunch. Don't "have time" make them pack it themselves!! Plus if your "soo" worried, you should find time. It's not that hard. If your kids end up buying lunch, make sure they have a healthier snack when they get home.
Here are some lunch ideas for kids who are tired of plain PB&J:
- Peanut Butter & Honey (PB&H)
- PB&J or PB&H wrap
- " " on waffles
- pasta
- mac & cheese
There is soo many different things you can do! Write to me and tell me how you were creative at iusedtohateveggies@gmail.com. There is a contest and if you win I will post your name and recipe on the blog!!

Tips From NO Veggies To SOME Veggies

Most kids don't really eat healthier food or care for it, so getting your child to actually eat veggies might be a task. So throwing all the healthier food on your kids right away might not be a good idea. You should start by just introducing your family to some veggies, not making them scarf down every vegetable you see. Also eating healthy is not just about fruits and vegetables it's about how you eat so instead of hamburgers and fast food EVERY night (I'm not saying you can't have them at all just
onc
e a week at the most) start throwing in a salad of a plate of grilled veggies, such as bell pepper, onions, and zucchini.
Here is a recipe for a salads. This salad is also good for wraps. If you want to try a wrap just add some flour tortillas to the ingredients. There is also a Costco kit you can try but you will have to provide the lettuce, the vegetables or the mandarin oranges.

Chinese Chicken Salad

Lettuce, Carrots, Chinese Noodles

Won tons, Chicken, Bell Pepper (optional)

Mandarin Oranges, Almonds, Green Onions

Enjoy Your Munching,
